Get Out of the Heat and Into a Class!

Support OLLI and renew your membership to get free access to our stimulating array of summer Special Interest Groups (SIGs). There’s something for everyone, from gardening to history, current events and media, travel, science and a brand new group for people who love to knit and crochet! 

We know many of you are planning trips and vacations, so we’ve scheduled several single-session classes, easy to fit into your schedule. Thanks to Zoom, you can attend from your home or wherever you may be traveling. 

Many courses have been scheduled for afternoons, so you can enjoy the summer weather in the mornings and take part in OLLI classes and events online during the heat of the day indoors – keeping ‘your cool’ both physically and figuratively!  

Registration for these summer courses begins Monday, June 14. Classes and Special Interest Groups begin Tuesday, July 6.

Calvin Handy Joins Rene Viargues to lead Blue Blood Course in Summer

UC Davis Emeritus Chief of Police Calvin Handy will be joining the literary discussion group for Blue Blood, which has been rescheduled from Spring into our Summer Session. The book is an extensive ‘memoir’ written by former New York city police officer Edward Conlon and exemplifies many of the questions our nation is wrestling with in regard to community policing strategies and the deplorable loss of African American lives related to policing. New course dates are August 4 and 11. Register online for the event

OLLI Needs New Recruits!

OLLI is lucky to have an exceptional group of volunteers who serve as Zoom Co-pilots for our online classes.

Summer is a great time to learn how you can serve our learning community as a co-pilot. With a lighter volume of courses, you can learn co-piloting at a leisurely pace and make a real difference in the lives of your fellow OLLI members. Through the feedback of many OLLI members, we have learned that Zoom classes make it easier to hear class conversation. Others who prefer learning from home instead of driving to class also find our online classes especially attractive. Help OLLI continue touching lives by becoming a Zoom co-pilot.
