Known as Ramses the Great, he was the most celebrated and powerful pharaoh of the New Kingdom — Egypt’s golden age. Believed to be a god on Earth, Ramses II ruled for 67 years as part of the 19th Dynasty, erecting enormous temples, obelisks, and statues and expanding Egypt’s empire.

JOIN OLLI January 18 for a day trip to The de Young Museum in San Francisco with art history professor Lynn Roller to see an exceptional traveling installation before it’s gone.

This state-of-the-art exhibition features the greatest collection of Ramses II objects and Egyptian jewelry ever to travel to the United States. Along with the pharaoh’s colossal royal sculpture, the exhibition highlights recently discovered animal mummies and treasures from the royal tombs of Dahshur and Tanis.

DATE: Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023 – 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

$130.00 fee includes exhibit fee, docent-led tour of the exhibit and luxury motor-coach transport (An optional virtual reality experience, "Ramses & Nefertari – Journey to Osiris," can be purchased separately from the museum.) Please be prepared to provide proof of COVID vaccination or negative test result. Masking may be required on the bus based on UC Davis COVID policy on the day of travel.

Free time will be available for a no-host lunch at the de Young and post-tour Q&A session with Professor Roller on the bus.

Parking & bus pick-up location will be emailed one week in advance of trip.
