Why Do We Hate Political Parties?

American's hate party politics. Yet democracy cannot survive without them. In this class we will review the history of American political parties. We will begin with the role that parties in democratic politics and then take a grand tour of the history of our political party system. We will end the class with a discussion of third party political movements.
