Sacramento a Job Hub for Planners
Urban planners and related planning professionals are in-demand across the country, but did you know that the Sacramento metropolitan area employs the most urban planners in the country? According to a recent CityLab article, a study of concentrations of urban planners found that the Sacramento area employs 2.8 times more urban planners than the national average, with San Francisco not far behind in 3rd place with 2.4 times more than the average. In fact, every metropolitan area in California employs an above average number of urban planners, and urban planners in California, particularly the Bay Area, have higher salaries than anywhere else in the country. It’s also worth noting that the Stockton metro area topped the rest of the nation with the most growth in the field between 2014 and 2019.
