Study the types of monitoring instruments used to evaluate confined spaces in the workplace. Learn the theory and operation of colorimetric tubes, oxygen meters, combustible gas indicators, photo-ionizing detectors, sound level meters, dosimeters and the wet bulb globe thermometer. Discuss the use of air sampling media and personal monitoring pumps. Practice calibration and evaluation of various conditions in hands-on laboratories that accompany lectures. A calculator is required. This course is an elective in the Workplace Health and Safety Certificate Program.
