Designed for planners as well as state and local transportation agency workers, this course uses in person and activities to help you understand how active transportation plays a critical role in the urban fabric. You will also learn the key elements of planning for a safe and connected bicycle transportation network within the broader transportation system of your community.
Additionally, you will have an opportunity to participate in an optional guided bike tour around the City of Davis and the UC Davis campus. This fun, half-day excursion will reinforce concepts covered in class and strengthen your understanding of the user experience associated with different bicycle facility types.

- Compose a plan to implement a bicycle planning project that includes funding, design and non-infrastructure programs

For those participating in the optional guided bike tour, bicycles will be available upon request. Requests to obtain a bicycle rental must be submitted 6 weeks before the start date of the course to guarantee an available bike.
